Journal aim and scope

The journal aims to publish research that advances biotechnology and bioinformatics through sound biological investigation, computational methods and data analysis. It welcomes work in molecular and cellular biology, omics, biological computation and engineered biological systems when the biological or methodological contribution is clear and the evidence supports the conclusions.

Appropriate approaches include experimental biology, assay development, sequence and omics analysis, statistical modelling, bioinformatics, computational pipelines and synthetic biology. Authors should describe samples, controls, preprocessing, analytical choices, software or model versions and validation. Computational findings should be assessed against suitable baselines or independent data when relevant; experimental claims should be supported by appropriate replication and controls.

Studies should address data provenance, reproducibility, biosafety, privacy and applicable ethics or material-transfer requirements. Authors should distinguish exploratory results from validated findings and discuss limitations, uncertainty and alternative explanations.

Routine software descriptions without biological or methodological validation, omics analyses with insufficient quality control, and engineered-biological claims without appropriate evidence fall outside scope. Manuscripts must fit the topics and boundaries described in the journal’s sections.
